Winter Essentials

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great holiday season and happy New Year to you guys! Lately, I have been pretty obsessed with creating pieces on Polyvore. It's actually a really entertaining app and is a great source for inspiration. With that being said, I decided to compile a "Winter Wardrobe Essentials" post for you all. I have categorized it into 5 simple categories:Outerwear,Sweaters,Shoes, Jumpsuits, Bottoms,Accessories, and a few bodysuit/skirt pieces.

See you all on my next post,

Love AJ

  • OUTERWEAR:  This probably goes without saying but Outerwear is a key component in your winter wardrobe. Buying a nice overcoat or jacket can be the perfect piece to pull an outfit together. So if you do anything this season, invest in a statement overcoat. I selected a black overcoat simply because it's classic, chic, and  a staple to have in your closet. The grey colored coat is very "On Trend" this Autumn/Winter season and is a definitely on my wishlist. The Camel coat is probably one of my favorite trends this season, and similar to The Black coat,The Camel coat has this classic aura about it,I feel like the color makes your whole outfit look more expensive. The Olive bomber is another "oldie but goodie" that has been seen everywhere this season, and it's perfect to have despite how complex or simple your style is. A Leather Jacket is another staple to have in your wardrobe, and if you want to go all out look for a detailed one with padding and zippers. The last piece is optional and more for the Sport luxe type of person;Varsity jackets are another effortless piece that you can throw on when you're on the go.

  • SWEATERS: These are another no brainer as far as your winter wardrobe goes. I picked out a few Cowl neck sweaters in Nude/Neutral tones which are easy to pair with a lot of pieces whether you're dressing it up or down. The pullover knit sweaters are a personal favorite of mine for this season, they're so comfy and effortless!

  • JUMPSUITS: These have become a big ticket item in my closet. I feel like jumpsuits are perfect to have because it still has potential to be dressy and is still minimal all at the same time. Jumpsuits come in an array of fabrics and colors and can depending on said fabric you can rock it all year long.

  • Bodysuits are great for a number of things, like pairing with trousers, jeans skirts etc, and they're also very sexy.Since they have become "on trend" a bodysuit should be super easy to find in stores. The Wrap dress have also become very popular and are another item I'm definitely picking up this season and who doesn't need a good sweater dress for the season. The pencil skirt trend is also a great pickup for your wardrobe and can be worn year round.

  • ACCESSORIES: I just picked a few choice items for this category. The fedora has come back and left but it's back like never before, if you're not as daring as Pharell, a simple tan or black one will do just fine. Beanies are something I'm sure everyone owns, but the fur pom pom brings light to an old staple. Leather gloves are chic and give you this boss kind of feel when you slip them on. I didn't include a circle/infinity scarf but that's definitely one of my staples for the winter season (I practically live in mine). However the Plaid scarf can be a nice touch of color to a monochrome fit. The faux fur collar is also a great way to spice up a seemingly simple outfit, it adds a nice sophisticated touch to an outfit. The last three are optional but are also very minimal pieces to have in your wardrobe.

SHOES: Winter is all about boots, boots and more boots. From the chelsea boot (shown in brown) to your Timberlands, to your Thigh Highs heels, boots are extremely essential for the season. I also threw in some casual shoes like the Sk8 Hi vans and the metallic slip ons which you can rock on those warmer days.Thigh boots are probably the only thing I have been obsessed with all season and I am still on the hunt for a good pair.

  • BOTTOMS:  Here are a few of my favorite styles of jeans to incorporate into your wardrobe. I decided to pick out the basic colors so that it's super easy to match with practically anything and you can wear them all year long. This past season/current season the "ripped on the knee" jean have been pretty popular such as the black pair and gray pair. Typically I wear them on a day to day basis with slip ons or sneakers but they can also be dressed up with a pair of boots or strappy heels or stilettos. The olive jeans are a great dupe for the Balmain bikers which have also been super popular but are also super expensive. So if you want the look for less, you can find them at stores like H&M, Zara, Topshop etc. The boyfriend Jean and Black leather pants are also a great staple to include in your wardrobe.
